Techno with Meyer Sound

contour sounds Techno festival at the "Blauer See" with Meyer Sound JM-1P.

This year's festival offered a lineup including some of the most renowned Electronic- and Techno-artists in the world, including Ricardo Villalobos and Luciano, who made the fans dance. The main dance floor - underneath a Skyliner 25 meters over - was sounded with a sound system using JM-1P speakers.

The sound- and light equipment, being provided and operated by contour licht & audio Veranstaltungsservice GmbH from Overath, included for separately flown arrays with four JM-1P arrayable speakers each and 12 700-HP UltraHigh-Power Subwoofer in a 4 times 3 configuration on the main floor. The sound system for the smaller floor 2 consisted of four stacks of three 600-HP Subwoofern each with four MICA Line Array speakers on top.

The complete system was time-aligned to the DJ position, which was limited to the sides by a headphone-like setup of a 600-HP Subwoofer with an UPQ-1P speaker stacked on top on each side. In order to give the real party feeling to the crowd, the maximum SPL of the system was concentrated on the complete area of the dance floor.

Frank "Gecko" Kasper, general manager of contour licht & audio and sound designer for the event, explains that there are two big tasks for a sound system at the "Blauer See": "First of all the maximum SPL of an ambient sound must be secured over several hours, secondly the sound system must be capable of reproducing a highly dynamic beat evenly, loudly and bassy over all frequencies, which is mandatory for all DJ's. The Meyer Sound systems have yet again exceeded our expectations."
