One of Germany's nicest cabaret festivals...
For the first time held for the 2000 year celebration of the City of Koblenz, the "Gauklerfest" has made a name for itself throughout Europe and is one of the most popular events in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Every year in midsummer the old town of Koblenz is converted for three days to a scenery for numerous artists from various countries.
Frank "Gecko" Kasper, today general manager of contour, started out in 1991 together with Bert Flöck from the "Kulturamt" (today Koblenz Touristik) and Berti Hahn as artistical director. Back then this extraordinary people's event became a faithful companion, though funds were minuscule.
While during the first years of the Gauklerfest beer tent were used as function rooms, nowadays two "skyliner" roofing solutions in 19m and 22m fan out this very special open air-flair on "Görresschulhof".
Further special constructions, like open air stages in unusual sizes (for example "Jesuitenplatz"-stage 3.5m deep x 7m wide), allow to stay clear from the traffic- and rescue routes and to ideally use the gathering areas.
