Within the historic scenery of "Festung Ehrenbreitstein" (Ehrenbreitstein fortress) above Koblenz, the for the time being last staging of the opera series "Koblenzer Festungsspiele" was produced with two complete scene stages. The "Stadttheater Koblenz" (Koblenz Metropolitan Theatre) in cooperation with the "Orchester der Rheinischen Philharmonie Koblenz" (orchestra of the rhenish philharmonics Koblenz) and a grand choir from Hungary as well as impressive male and female soloists celebrated the opera "Aida" by italian composer Giuseppe Verdi in four acts.
As coninuously since 1997, contour was commisioned as general contractor for the technical realization of this event.
The main focus was the creation of a lighting concept in all aspects necessary for a grand theatre. Unfortunately there was neither a roof nor a drawing loft, no basement lifts and in general no technical logistics whatsoever in this location. Within two weeks two complete open air theatres were implemented into the fortress. For a period of almost two months all systems had to be installed weather-protected and self-supporting.
